This team provides assistance to families in grief. Such assistance might include delivering a “travel bag” (coffeepot, cups, creamer, etc.), snacks, or meals to families receiving visitors following a death. A meal for the family on the day of the funeral will be provided if the family wishes.

Helping Hands, Chair: Wayne Jones

This team provides assistance to church members who need help with small projects they cannot easily do themselves. This might include tasks such as: helping members move to a new residence; complete minor home repairs or improvements; raking and bagging leaves; cutting up and/or removing tree limbs and other vegetation, or other yard projects; moving large, bulky items for city pickup or transporting items to be donated to the church or area non-profit organizations; moving furniture or other heavy objects within a member’s residence or on their property; and offering suggestions and contact information for area contractors who can address large projects that are beyond the skills or time commitment of Helping Hands team members.

Through visits to the hospital, team members convey love, concern, compassion, and encouragement for those who are ill.  For those in the hospital, team members also facilitate communication as needed between the patient/family and the church.

Through visits to the homebound individuals, team members convey love, concern, compassion, and encouragement for those who are ill or who are no longer able to join the church in worship.

Meet & Greet, Chair: Lauren Sandifer

This team’s mission is twofold: 1) to make visitors feel welcome and comfortable, and 2) to help new members feel a part of our faith community and become integrated into church life. Responsibilities may include: tracking the visits of visitors and making introductions; writing notes of welcome to visitors; hosting meals; teaching new member classes; pairing new members with current members of similar life interests, vocations, or backgrounds; and encouraging new members to become part of a small group (such as a Sunday School class, choir, ministry, program, committee, etc.) in which they are interested and feel called to use their gifts and abilities.
