Week 3: Worthy Are These Questions
Read Rev 4-5.
- What did john see and hear (4.1)? How did John get to heaven (4.2)?
- How many thrones did John see, and how were the elders dressed? Who else is present at this throne scene?
- Why does God look like jasper and carnelian? What is the significance of the red color, in your opinion?
- What’s the function of the 24 elders and 4 creatures? What has God done to be worthy of such praise?
- If you were to describe heaven, what would you say? What would it be like, and what language would you use?
- In 5.1-2, what does John see, and who is the angel looking for? Can anyone open the seals (5.3)?
- What does the word worthy mean to you? What does it mean in the dictionary? To what was the lamb equal in value
- What does the lamb do, and what happens when he takes the scroll (5.7-9)?
- In the new song, what makes the lamb worthy to open the seals, and who sings this song? How do the angels respond?
- What is the center of heavenly worship, according to John? What is the center of Christian worship here at CP? Should earthly worship mirror John’s vision of heavenly worship? Why/why not?
- Note the words of 5.8 to incense being the “prayers of the saints.” What does that mean? How do prayer and worship go together?
- So what your reaction to these two chapters? Do you tell you any clues about how you are to live and worship now?
