Week 6: Eat This Book
Read Rev 10-11. Chapter 11 is thought by many to be the most bewildering one in the entire book, so good luck!
- How is the strong angel of 10.1 described? What is he holding, and where is he standing?
- John is told by whom not to do what? Why should he not do this? What has the strong angel come to do?
- What will happen, according to the angel, when the 7 th trumpet sounds?
- John is told to do what with the scroll, and what happens when he does it? What might this action mean?
- In Chapter 11, what is John told to do in this vision? How long will the nations be allowed to trample the holy city?
- Describe the 2 witnesses. What things are they given power to do, and for how long? What happens to them after their time is finished?
- What happens to their bodies now and later? What happens afterwards (11.13)
- What does happen when the 7 th trumpet sounds? What new object is there (hint: Harrison Ford)? Where is it mentioned again in Rev?
- Are you called on to perform tasks that are sweet is some aspects, but bitter in others? Discuss these.
- Does God still send prophets? If so, how are they recognized and treated, usually?
- How do we know a real prophet from the false ones? What might a prophet say to you?
- Make a list of the seven beatitudes in Rev. What might you learn from this list? [1.3, 14.13, 16.15, 19.9, 20.6, 22.7, 22.14] Keep this list handy as we finish the book.
